My students need healthy snacks (gold fish, mac and cheese, bars and nuts, and water) for their hungry bellies. Many do not have healthy choices at home and are very hungry throughout the day.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are precious and unique and challenging and creative and beautiful. They are in the Affective Needs program because they struggle to function in a traditional school setting. They all have an Individual Education Plans to receive extra support to regulate emotions, build social skills, manage their anger and learn and use coping tools. Many have experienced severe childhood trauma and suffer from anxiety, depression, and other behavioral and emotional disabilities. The goal of our program is to help integrate students within the school, advocate for themselves, and communicate effectively.
My Project
Many of my students come to school hungry or get hungry throughout the day. They do not have healthy options at home or their families do not have money to send them with extra food. I often give up my lunch to feed these precious young people so they are not H(angry) (which is a silly way of saying they are angry or frustrated or dis-regulated because they are hungry).
Our students need healthy snacks to help sustain them throughout the day so they can to learn.
Having healthy snacks and water on hand will help students stay in the classroom, come to and stay at school, and gain energy and focus.
