This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The goal of this project is to make a statement, raise awareness, and support those affected by domestic violence. I am the advisor for the National Honor Society (NHS), and my NHS students plan to tie-dye white t-shirts purple, iron on a graphic that they have designed, and wear them every Friday to raise awareness about the problem of domestic violence and show their commitment to ending the cycle of abuse.

I am requesting the white T-shirts for the 28 members of the National Honor Society so that they can have the materials needed to take on this project and raise awareness about their campaign to raise funds for a local organization that supports children traumatized by domestic violence.

My NHS students have committed to educating people about the problem of domestic violence and supporting its victims as our chapter's primary service project. Their goal is to raise funds to support a local organization that provides essential resources and a summer camp experience for children impacted by domestic violence. The students plan to wear the shirts to school every Friday when they work at a table in the cafeteria to educate students and staff about domestic violence and collect funds to support this organization. Their objective is to spark conversations, challenge misconceptions, and create a culture of support and empathy within our school community about this social problem.

I will donate the purple dye and iron-on graphic but the students do not have funds to cover the cost of the shirts. They are committed to volunteering and showing support, but buying shirts to raise awareness is a financial hurdle.

Wearing shirts will help my students broaden awareness of domestic violence. The shirts will draw attention to their fundraising objective to its support victims.
