This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember what it was like to get so lost in a book that you couldn't put it down? Did you ever finish your favorite book, only to start reading it all over again as soon as you finished? That is how I experienced reading Tom Sawyer,and I want my students to have that same experience.

My students are a lively and diverse group of 5th graders who are passionate about reading.

They have been setting reading goals all year,are thrilled to see how much they have grown as readers. They enjoyed being challenged and they are ready to tackle serious literature.

My Project

When I was in 5th grade, I discovered The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and it was a life-changing experience. I know my students are ready to have the same experience, and I know that Tom Sawyer is the right book for the right time for them. I will be able to support my students through a rigorous study of a classic American literary work.

My students are working hard to be the first in their family to go to college.

I want their trajectory to start from a high mark on the line, and I know I can lift the level of their reading with a shared experience of a classic work of literature. Your donation will help to move dreams closer to reality. My students are relying on donors such as yourselves to support their dreams.
