My students enjoy hands-on activities and completing projects to show their depth of knowledge. I would love to see them fulfill their dreams and encourage them to put forth their best effort. My biggest challenge is the lack of technology to model expectations and give clear demonstrations.
My students are energetic and full of passion.
Our class has a variety of learners at all different levels, striving to reach the same goal. Our school is Title 1 and Mission Possible, so we do the best we can to provide our students with the opportunities to succeed! Having a range of skills and leveled learners, it is very important that I am able to model, explicitly, and show a variety of examples to fit each student's needs. My class also has a number of ESL students, who benefit from visual clues and hands-on demonstrations. They all apply themselves daily and are willing to help each other whenever needed. They deserve every opportunity to expand their knowledge and experiences within and outside the classroom!
Currently in the classroom, students take turns to come to the board to look at the model I created for the projects they inspired. With a document camera, I would be able to project a larger image of the current model or project we are working on in order for all students to be able to clearly see and understand the concepts. This will also allow students to model different activities, from solving word problems to highlighting text evidence of a story. Having a document camera in the classroom will benefit students by giving them a visual of any topic we are working on. I would be able to display resources I have in front of me in a larger image that the whole class can view. I would be able to grab fraction bars or place value blocks to give a visual while introducing a new concept.
Giving students the opportunity to document our learning on a larger screen will make a difference for those who need a visual to understand.
This will allow my ESL students to have visual clues that I can point to as we read a story or display real world items when solving math word problems to help students make the connection.
