My Students

Our school is "The Home of the Champions" and we strive to create a learning environment that helps students grow into their Champion potential. Our students and teachers take learning very seriously, and we want to make sure they have everything they need in their classrooms. All five hundred and seventy-five students and our instructional staff will benefit from this project.

My Project

RES currently serves kindergarten and first-grade students, and building foundation reading skills is a primary instructional focus in our classrooms. The Richland Elementary School Strategic Planning team identified “big books” as an instructional material need in order to support teachers in their reading and literacy instruction. However, many of the big books that teachers have requested are no longer in publication. A proposed solution to this issue is to purchase document cameras for Richland Elementary School’s instructional staff. Document cameras connect to Macbooks easily to project a book or other written material onto a Smartpanel. In essence, document cameras make any book a “big book”. Document cameras can also be used to display math manipulatives and worksheets for whole group guided instruction.
