Document Camera

Help me give my students learn mathematics by helping me purchase this document camera. This document camera will allow me to film myself answering mathematical problems that are too complex to be typed into a word processor.

My Students

My students are in a high-needs district; every student in my school automatically qualifies for free lunch. Many of my students balance their school commitments with part-time jobs. Most students choose to enroll in local community colleges after graduation; some students join military services while others begin full-time jobs.

Now with the Coronavirus, I cannot see my students because schools are closed.

I want my students to learn about the principles of mathematics and appreciate a deeper understanding of the relationships we will explore in my class. I do not want to worry about whether or not they have the resources necessary to learn in my classroom.

My Project

A document camera will allow me to film myself solving mathematical problems using all of the mathematical notation, symbols and formats that you cannot easily type into a computer program or word processor.

Once it is filmed, I can then share the video with my students via online learning platforms where they can watch the mathematical problem solving process in action.

The document camera can also be used when I travel across the state to do presentations to other students who are learning about AP Statistics in my work as an AP Statistics presenter for a non-profit education company that promotes college-level education to minority students as well as students at risk.
