In my high school math classes my students learn that "simple" does not mean "easy". We explore functions, the relationships and characteristics of functions, as well as transformations of functions. We can build, break down down, as well as combine functions. In order to learn *how* to do mathematics, students need to *practice* doing mathematics, just like how athletes run drills during practice. That means my students will need writing materials to illustrate the process of mathematics and folders to keep track of their progress. I want to make sure that all of my students will never have to worry about whether or not they are prepared for doing mathematics in my classroom.
