Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our middle school is the proud home of nearly 600 Denver students!

We serve a very diverse group of students and families and work hard to foster the values of Honor, Hard Work, Generosity, and Humility in our school and greater community.

Over 90% of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, so we never ask families for any financial contribution towards school supplies. Because of this, we struggle to supply our students with the basic tools they need to be successful in class! We are so grateful for the support of DonorsChoose as we navigate these tricky times. Thank you!

My Project

These document cameras will allow me and my colleagues in the math department to show interesting student work to the entire class as we learn math together! My goal is for students to feel comfortable making mistakes and sharing their thinking in math class.

Discussing students' misconception will help students in all of my math classes understand the value of wrong answers.

These cameras will also allow us to view physical, complex, geometric diagrams wherever they happen to be. This way, we'll be able to keep students distanced from each other while learning from the same work. Additionally, the snacks will help keep our students full & focused during long days at school!
