Do You Hear What I Hear?

Help me give my students the usage of headphones for Chromebook audio and for my early morning healthy lifestyles class, flash cards as we go through six of our body systems.

My Students

I have an excellent class of students this year as they are all anxious to acquire knowledge. The desire to learn, the yearning for learning is always evident for me as I teach the 9 - 11 year old child.

I've taught for 36 years now and I love the 4th and 5th graders probably the most.

My students are still learning some of the basics, but beginning to expand into new horizons of discovery. Growth and development now open up their minds resulting in new expertise and love for attaining knowledge.

Years ago, I was given by a dear room mother, a plaque, which states: "A teacher plants seeds that grow forever".

I always have this on display in my class as a motivation for students to ponder their true potential for attaining anything they may so desire.

These are some of reasons I still love teaching: the students, my continual learning, and having former students return to show me their love and experiences.

My Project

Our Fourth grade recently acquired a new set of 30 Chromebooks. Two of the other four classes have and use their own sets of headphones. I have seen the great advantage this offers their classes as they use the Chromebooks for various projects and programs.

It is difficult to have the entire class working while sounds from your neighbor's Chromebook are distracting you.

We are requesting headphones which will greatly assist my students as they practice memorizing the 29 counties and county seats of Utah, parts of: the Gettysburg Address, Preamble to the Constitution, and the Declaration of Independence. All of the various learning programs will be greatly enhanced.

I also teach an early morning science class with a focus on the systems of the body. We go through most of the systems of the body. I dissect cow, pig, or deer hearts, cow eyeballs, and cow femur bones. I show several video taped surgeries of various body parts.

We are requesting this set of human body parts flash cards which would greatly be beneficial to the class as we go through each of the systems of the body. Students love looking at pictures and reading about the parts as they study. This will give us one more tool to open the minds of future doctors and nurses.
