My Project
My students create a family at our school. We are a performing arts family (bands, choirs, strings, theatre, and dance) that support each other on the stage, in the classroom, and beyond. We are an NJ high school, just outside NYC, servicing a multicultural population of students from varying socioeconomic backgrounds. We strongly believe that the arts can instill positive change, transform, inspire, and change lives. The Music program is a powerful unifier in our school. We are going to build this program over a strong foundation and proud history and generations of art students.
Having snacks available for my students helps them focus in class and gets them through a long school day including afternoon/evening rehearsals until their next meal.
Our students especially need opportunities to relieve stress, put a smile on a face, laughter in the air, and bring our community together.
Snacks are fun and make our students happy. Snacks help build trust, and start great conversations that lead to laughter and memorable moments. Snacks can also encourage students to work harder and support the classroom environment. These snacks will support our students through the long hours of rehearsal as we finish this school year. Games are fun and bring smiles and laughter. Games build teamwork and communication. Games build community. Our students so badly need a relief from the stress of their day and find refuge in our music classroom.
