Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Being able to accept your mistakes is far from easy. In school, we learn that mistakes translate into bad grades. This unfortunate lesson gets burned into our brains, and we go through life shunning challenges. DIY welcomes inevitability because they know that mistakes are a source of inspiration.

The students attend a high school that is considered low-income and holds primarily Hispanic and African American students.

They are very engaged when it comes to hands-on projects and results oriented exercises like all things DIY. They respond especially well to technology related subjects that they can easily relate to in their personal lives.

My Project

This project will introduce the electronic origami concept - building a box with an LED. We'll be using a letter size sheet of paper to fold out an origami tea lamp. Then we'll use CircuitWriter pen to draw out circuits throughout the paper lamp. We will then tape LED lights along the newly drawn circuit wire and connect them to the coin battery which will also be taped to the paper lamp.

The human-made world is mostly beyond our comprehension.

Our daily survival depends on seemingly magical gizmos. But you can make your world a little less confounding by doing other activities that put you in touch with the processes of life. In addition, the things you make reflect your personality and have a special meaning. You share a connection with them every time you use them, and you appreciate them in a different way than you do store-bought things.
