This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from low socioeconomic households. Many of them rent rooms or apartments with multiple families. All of my students are second language learners. My school has 100% free breakfast, brunch, and lunch.

My students are so excited and enthusiastic about coming to school to learn.

They eagerly read books and discuss them with classmates. Writing is done every day, and they love to share out in the author's chair. We need more resources so that students can get to grade level.

My Project

My students have really grasped the concept of multiplication and have done so in a hands-on way when using the multiplication machines. Now that they have gotten the hang of multiplication, I am hoping to acquire division machines so they can learn in a fun, hands on way that keeps them engaged and working with a partner. Multiplication and division are such a big component of 3rd grade math skills. Students need a strong foundation of these skills so that they can master the next set of skills taught.
