Diving into Coding With Botley the Robot

My Students

India, Guyana, Trinidad, Pakistan, Jamaica, Mexico, Puerto Rico ... these are just a few of the places my students are from. My students come from a low-income community and attend a Title I school where everyone is granted free lunch. Many of my students have come from another country and speak multiple languages. Despite all this, they are kind, loving, respectful and eager to learn.

My students are growing and learning in a small, tight-knit, school community.

They are dreamers, thinkers, talkers, and questioners. They are mini inspirations to themselves and others around them, even if they don't know it yet. They are budding doctors, world travelers, scientists, entrepreneurs, teachers, etc. They are our future and I want to give them a great start to their long successful careers.

My Project

Having the Botley Robot and activity pack will allow for different structures of learning to happen within my classroom. Not only will my students be able to develop their interests in coding, but they will be able to practice their literacy and math skills through these fun activities. Students will be able to add, subtract, practice sequencing steps, creating characters and so much more while also learning how to code, program and write algorithms.

My project will make a difference because my students are vibrant and excited to learn, but do not always have the necessary tools or materials.

In this new age world, it is important for my students to master the art of coding and close the gap so they too can excel in life.
