Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are Pre-K students with disabilities. My students are developmentally delayed and have speech and language delays. They are truly loving, adorable, and smart little scholars. They are eager to learn and explore new things. Many of my students come from various socioeconomic backgrounds with a wide range of academic abilities.

My Project

My classroom is comprised of mostly minority students. Diverse books are needed because students of color often-time do not see themselves in literature. Diverse reading books represent different abilities, different cultures, and different skin colors. These books can help us change our attitude towards people with differences.

A diverse collection of storybooks can support all students in connecting on some level with their own cultural identities while gaining knowledge and insight about others.

Having a collection of diverse storybooks will open the door to worlds that my students do not yet know about. These books will show my students experiences other than their own while expanding their worldview.
