My students think their phones are computers. When it's time to research or you ask them to look up something, they automatically want to pull out their phones! We have very limited technology at our school. I want students to be able to understand what it means to research and be hands-on.
My students are awesome!
They are a group of charismatic, intelligent, and unique individuals! They are very knowledgeable about the strangest things! We are a very small school in Baltimore City with no money to be able to expose and do things for our students. It is very hard to provide them with experiences because our resources are so limited.
In today’s climate and culture, people are becoming polarizing with their views and beliefs without understanding the perspectives of others. The purpose of this project is to help students understand different cultures and perspectives through literacy. I have selected multiple books that will help students become more aware of the issues and topics we are facing today in the viewpoint of various children. This will allow my students to become change agents in society because if they have no exposure to topics such as immigration, climate change, equity, and friendship there will be a struggle on how to build their own opinion on these things. My hope is with these books and materials, my students will become more involved well-rounded change agents in the world today and in the future. I want to plant the seed now, while I can.
