My Students

My students are amazing! They are intelligent, compassionate, kind, and hilarious. 7th graders are always surprising me with their brilliant perceptions and thoughts.

Each student brings something unique to the classroom, and I love celebrating that!

I have a passion for ensuring that all of my students all feel represented, heard, and like they matter while they are in my classroom and long after they leave it. The joy I feel when my students have a moment of understanding is indescribable. I love fostering their growth and pushing them to use critical thinking skills, empathy, and understanding as they navigate my language arts classroom and the world.

My Project

These books will be checked out by my 7th grade language arts students and former 8th grade students. Representation matters and by increasing the amount of diverse characters and authors on my shelves, I am helping students see themselves in literature and see that it is possible for them to become authors and creators too.

These titles will help make my classroom library more diverse, and they will help me increase the joy and interest of readers while allowing students to be exposed to a variety of authors and characters leading to an increase in empathy and understanding.
