My Students

As a STEAM teacher and librarian, I have the privilege of working with 320 Pre-Kindergarten through fifth-grade students in our library and in individual classrooms. The integration of STEAM learning experiences has been nothing short of magical, helping my diverse students find confidence, passion, empowerment, success, and creative ways to express their learning. Many of my students will be the first in their families to attend and graduate college. Helping spark an interest in STEAM for my youngest learners can ignite a passion and change the trajectory for their futures. When you support my classroom, you become a part of their stories and successes.

Providing my students with authentic STEAM learning experiences will give them opportunities to develop 21st-century skills, establish a growth mindset, and empower them to overcome any obstacles standing in their way and accomplish their goals and dreams.

My students are energetic, eager to learn, and excited to be in school. They love hands-on learning opportunities and having a voice and choice in their learning as they become empowered learners. I know they will deeply appreciate your generosity and support of their classroom.

My Project

My project will provide my students with a variety of diverse picture books relating to spring and summer. These books feature a variety of diverse characters and authors to promote diversity and inclusion in my elementary library. These picture books will also inspire new literacy-based STEAM challenges for spring and summer.

Students will begin each Storytime STEAM lesson by listening to one of the diverse read alouds.

Then students will complete a STEM challenge that relates to the read-aloud by coding, engineering, conducting an experiment or creating digital content. These books will provide inspiration for these meaningful new safe and socially-distanced challenges while helping students feel represented in the library through featured texts. I am continually trying to integrate more diverse books into my library as well as purposefully integrate them into weekly STEAM lessons in my K-5 school.

Thank you for supporting my students by providing them with new diverse pictures books and STEAM experiences.
