Help me give my students a new and improved boost to our classroom library!! I am requesting new bookshelves to replace our old ones and lots of diverse books to reflect our diverse group of students.
I work at an inclusive school in Los Angeles, CA that serves all students, no matter what their needs are. We have students that live all over the city and travel far and wide to be a part of our community. Students at my school engage in service learning projects which connect them with the community, build their sense of confidence and social responsibility while addressing district standards. With an emphasis on developing character, technology skills, and a deep understanding of the world, my school prepares students to be leaders.
My Project
At our inclusive school, we support students of all backgrounds and abilities. By getting new bookshelves along with diverse books, our students will be able to more easily find books to read, especially those that reflect them and others in our school community.
Children deserve to have books with characters that reflect them and their families!
I will use these books during read aloud times and to start group discussions during CIRCLE time, which we are introducing to our school this year. These books will be good examples to bring up different topics during our restorative justice practices. I am hoping that our new and improved library will make the students even more excited to read throughout the year!
