My students need a variety of high-interest reading materials in our classroom. Many of my students do not have books at home or are able to visit a library regularly. Easy access to books will help build stronger literacy skills, which are essential to student success in school and life.
I am joining the school mid-year and we have no books in our classroom to promote reading for enjoyment. These novels will help us create a diverse, high-interest classroom library.
Strong literacy skills are vital to student success in school and in life beyond school.
Having a classroom library will encourage students to read for enjoyment and, as a result, strengthen their literacy skills.
We look forward to reading new and interesting books with diverse characters and to developing meaningful reading habits. We hope this project will bring us one step closer to closing the achievement gap for young people in the MS Delta.
