Many of my students come to school without having eaten breakfast or with limited access to nutritious food during the day. By providing snacks, I am able to address their basic needs, ensuring that hunger does not become a barrier to learning. The availability of snacks has helped students stay focused, energized, and engaged throughout our lessons, leading to improved participation and attentiveness.\r\n\r\nThis project has also fostered a sense of care and community within the classroom. When students see that someone outside of our immediate school community cares enough to support them, it boosts their morale and sense of belonging. Sharing snacks has encouraged students to look out for one another, creating opportunities for kindness and cooperation. It has also opened up conversations about gratitude and giving back, helping students develop important social-emotional skills.\r\n\r\nOverall, the snacks provided through DonorsChoose have contributed to a more positive and productive learning environment. Students are better able to concentrate on their studies, and classroom disruptions due to hunger have decreased. This simple act of generosity has made a tangible difference in my students' daily lives and has reinforced the importance of supporting one another both inside and outside the classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1762874903083,"projectUrl":"project/snacks-for-my-students/9869866/","projectTitle":"Snacks For My Students","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Dunigan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10339296_orig.jpg?crop=1284,1284,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1762053960322","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10339296"},{"teacherId":2627593,"projectId":9586393,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generosity. What used to feel like quiet notetaking now feels like strategy, debate, and teamwork.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the games, they literally cheered. One student who almost never participates correctly answered a First Amendment question during Constitutional Jeopardy and her group celebrated her out loud. That was a turning point, she has participated every game day since. These materials have made academic success feel public, safe, and exciting.\r\n\r\nNext, students will design their own review games for our Civil Rights and Civil Liberties unit using the donated games as models. The Cursive Handwriting Workbook gave students an engaging way to refine their written communication skills, especially as they learn how to write checks and make sure that they have a legible signature. The hole punch and paper shredder have made our classroom more organized and professional; students now take pride in preparing neatly bound reports and responsibly shredding practice credit-card forms from our personal finance lessons. A favorite moment of mine is when students worked in groups to create \"mini businesses\" as part of our Economics and Market Efficiency unit. They printed, bound, and displayed their proposals using our new tools, treating the experience like a true entrepreneurial presentation.\r\nThanks to your generosity. These resources have made every day learning feel purposeful and professional for my students, they see themselves not just as learners, but as future leaders and entrepreneurs. Our next step is to expand our financial literacy and entrepreneurship projects, incorporating real-world simulations where students budget, design, and market their own products.
