My Project

My students have big dreams of being able to make a difference in the world! My class is very diverse, and they love learning about how people who look like them were able to make a difference. They have loved studying about our government and historical figures who have made an impact on our country, but we do not have many texts in class that represent diverse leaders or represent historical events in a student friendly manner.

My students are motivated by choice and will be able to choose people and topics that are relevant to them and interest them to create presentations and reports to present to the class.

The students will practice using text features as they interpret tables, graphs, and timelines and practice note taking as they collect facts to include in their reports. They will develop social and team building skills as they research and present together.

Most importantly, my students will gain role models who look like them. I know my students are capable of greatness and cannot wait to see all of the amazing things they accomplish in the future. As a teacher, I am focused on making sure they have the tools and skills they will need make an impact in the world, and one of the most important tools they will need is the confidence and belief that they can make a difference.
