My Students

My students are curious little learners. Read alouds on the carpet have become their favorite time of the day. The eagerness they possess to hear the next part of the story or listen as I read a new picture book brings so much joy to my day. I enjoy the conversations that we have which are usually sparked from what we read that day.

My favorite thing to see them do is curl up with a good book on the carpet as they envision themselves as the characters in the story.

One of my parents told me that her daughter had developed a much stronger desire to read and a love of books since being in my class. My students embraced our new reading curriculum with open arms this past year and are better readers and writers because of it.

My Project

I want my students to be deep thinkers and action-takers. To advocate for those who are marginalized. To show compassion and understanding toward others. Reading is a great way to help students feel empowered.

I have such a diverse group of students and I want to represent them through the literature in our room.

I want to further develop their young minds with diverse books that encourage rich conversations about the differences between us. It is through those conversations that we will inspire one another to truly value and celebrate each other.
