My Students

We are a community of students from diverse backgrounds. Just like the rest of the world, my students are now in their homes trying to make the best of the situation that we have been thrown into. A vast majority of my students are from low income families and need help to be able to continue to access an equal education.

We have been using literature as mirrors, windows, and doors into the world and I would like to continue to give my students that opportunity by providing books that represent diversity and that they would enjoy to read.

We have been working on building a positive community in order to break down barriers between the diverse groups that make up our student body.

My Project

These books would be put into the hands of my students so that they can continue to access good literature and continue their reading. Being at home means that they do not have access to the books in my classroom or the city or school library. I am hoping that with these books they will feel connected to the classroom and each other.

Accessing diverse literature is a continuing issue that can be made worse by the inability of teachers to be able to put quality books into the hands of our students.

Having these books will help alleviate that problem.
