Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are such a fun group that’s full of energy! Not only do my students come from varying ethnic backgrounds, but also from different parts of the world! They enjoy being read to, doing math, technology and just learning. They have been real troopers dealing with the ongoing pandemic and adjusting to face-to-face learning.
My students have faced many challenges this past year and are excited to learn and be at school.
I want to provide them with a positive and safe school experience to improve their mental health by making sure they have what they need to make this school year successful.
My Project
As the school year progresses, sometimes it is important to return back to the basics and remind students how to be socially aware of others. With books that teach acceptance, I will provide my students with the opportunity to learn to value and respect others. My students will write letters to each other using the pencils, stating things they like and value about one another. Then, they will create personalized tote bags with the iron-on vinyl to carry classroom materials while displaying what makes them unique.
The materials will help my first-grade students learn about acceptance, diversity, and social representation.
They will learn about cultural diversity, inclusion, and value and respect one another.
