Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As second graders, my students are working towards becoming more and more independent in the classroom. While in my class, they will begin to take responsibility for their own learning and start to develop into future world changers!
They are enthusiastic, bright, and eager to learn new things!
They especially love hands-on learning and diving into good books.
Many students in my class struggle against factors that are outside of their control which affect their ability to be successful in the classroom. But their perseverance inspires me each and every day.
My Project
These books will help my students to become more excited about and engaged in independent reading. As new second graders, many of my students are only just beginning to become independent readers. Having a large variety of books will help them to practice their reading skills.
More importantly, however, having different types of books from different genres will give my students choices when it comes to reading.
In other words, they will be able to choose books to read based on what interests and excites them. For second graders, chapter books such as the Magic Tree House series and Junie B. Jones are especially intriguing because these books were often out of their reach up until now!
