Imagine the Sierra Nevada foothills, wine grapes, blueberry farms, and ranches spot the community of Apple Hill where we call home! Now imagine that we are all trying to do this education thing from home - connections drop, devices aren't working or the power is out so who has a charged device??
The room Survivors are just amazingly resilient during a time in education when everything seems so unstable.
We've been out of the classroom for over 5 months and can't wait to get back to it! Students are excited to be apart of the classroom community again and frankly, so am I!
We are a small TK-8th grade school with 46% free and reduced lunch and 30% English Language Learners. Although I only have 27 4th graders this year we are vast in our diverse learning needs and our cultural heritage. Everyone needs the stability of their teacher online ready to support them every step of this arduous journey!
My Project
The 20-21 school year will be mixed with many challenges for us all, parents, students, and teachers too. Our school has purchased many new student devices so that we can proudly sau=y that we are one to one devices for student engagement from home! But that has left the funds a little bleak for purchasing devices for teachers to effectively use to connect with students in large groups. I do have an old laptop from home that I am currently using to hold google classroom meets. With my entire class of 27 logged and myself, I'm finding that my device just isn't strong enough to do the job! Today I drooped off the call twice - leaving my students to fend for themselves!
These 4th graders are going places!
They just continued on and made sure what I was doing kept going. I logged back on and was so proud of these kiddos.
