Distance Learning At Its Finest

My Students

My students need books to be able to continue to progress through their reading levels. Because we are a low income Title I school, many of our students have no books or reading materials at home. All students should have books at their fingertips to read and enjoy.

When not at school, many students don’t have the means to practice new skills.

Students need learning opportunities and materials. Students are supposed to be online every day to get the most out of distance learning, but they have no materials to work with when that happens. Many of them are with babysitters so that mom and dad can work. Not all of them have access to computers and internet during those times. Receiving books and math manipulative would give them something to use to practice their first grade skills.

My Project

My first grade students come from diverse backgrounds. Over 70% of our school is on the free/reduced-price lunch program. Many of them do not have learning materials at home. Our school loaned over half of them laptops so that they could participate in distance learning as mandated by our state.

My students would benefit from receiving books and hands-on math materials to support their online learning.

Many of them do not have books or games in their homes.

At our Title I school, students can have access to books and games, but it is difficult when we have been away from school for two months. I want to provide my class with a few of these items which they can call their own.
