Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Art shouldn't always be an individual thing. Art should be shared with the community. My students work very hard to create and their work needs to be shown.

My students are a very diverse group.

They come from many economic and ethnic backgrounds. They have many different life experiences that they bring with them to my classroom every day. It is always exciting to say the least. I learn just as much from them as they learn from me. They are a wonderful mix.

My Project

One of my favorite memories from my childhood is the big art show that my school district put on every year. It was amazing to see all the artwork that the kids had made. And, I was always excited when a piece I created made it into the show. I feel my students should have the same experience. We are having our first art show this year and it would be a much more professional experience to have the students' creations displayed on panels rather than "taped" to the walls.

I think that having the art show and inviting the community will help to give students a greater sense of pride in their work.

I think it will also help the community to see the talent that our students have.
