Discovery-Based Learning!

Help me give my students fun STEAM based materials. The Amazon Fire tablet has a variety of learning apps and the building toys help develop creativity and exploration, as well as teaches children how to work together.

My Project

Working with children has always been a blessing to me. I learn so much from each child I interact with because all children are not the same. Even though all children are not the same, they all can learn some amazing qualities to help develop them into well-rounded adults. My goal is that after spending time in my program they are can express the things that they learned and loved from it.

I am working with elementary students, K-5, in a program that will bring STEAM activities to them to help develop a love for exploration learning, or discovery-based learning.

Learning through play at this age allows learners to actively investigate concepts rather than relying on passive instruction. This type of learning will help foster independence, curiosity, and creativity, leading to higher-order thinking skills, better emotional regulation, and increased confidence in problem-solving.

Exploration promotes deeper understanding and better retention (up to 70% based on research) of information. Many students need help with focusing and executive functioning. This approach has shown improvement in a child's ability to focus better and it strengthens their executive functioning- skills needed for planning, multitasking, and troubleshooting.
