This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Many of my students thrive on hands-on projects, where their curiosity propels them to delve deeper into their understanding of various subjects. Exploring topics like plant and animal cells has been immensely enjoyable for us. Now, I'm eager to elevate their learning experience by introducing a diverse range of slide specimens for observation under our microscopes.

By engaging with these specimens, students will not only solidify their scientific knowledge but also learn to apply it to real-world situations, mirroring the practices of professional scientists.

My aim is to equip them with essential microscopy skills, allowing them to peer into the hidden realms beyond our naked eyes' perception.

Moreover, this experience will inspire them to consider careers in the sciences. Many of my students have never encountered a microscope before, so providing them with the opportunity to not only use one but also explore a variety of specimens, from insects and fungi to bacteria, will be truly transformative. The excitement they've already shown in learning about the parts of a microscope and experimenting with virtual simulations only heightens my anticipation for their reactions to observing microscopic wonders firsthand.

These supplies will undoubtedly leave a profound and lasting impact on my students' scientific journey.
