Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am blessed to work at a school with a very diverse student population. Our school is a Title I school where many of our families come from low SES households. Although my students do not always have basic resources at home, they always come to class with a positive learning attitude. We are in need of basic supplies such as snacks, clothing, and classroom materials since many families struggle to provide them. Students will benefit academically by having basic supplies in the classroom.

My Project

Many of my students speak English as a second language. Due to this, they often struggle when reading from grade level textbooks. I have noticed that my students learn best by discovering science with hands on activities and projects. Science should be taught by allowing kids to experience the topic that they are learning. Since most of my students come from low income families they often have not experienced content we are learning in class.

This project will allow my students to learn science through discovery.

They will make connections on the content we are learning in class. These items will help my students build connections and understanding through experience.
