Dino-Mite Day: Our Classroom Transformation

Help me give my students a wonderful and engaging Dino Day in first grade! This includes costumes, blocks, dinosaur toys, and more.

My Project

In First Grade we have room transformation days to learn about various first grade standards. The most anticipated day in first grade is Dino Day. For one day students become archaeologists and we have several hands-on learning experiences where students can learn about dinosaurs. While students are learning about the science behind dinosaurs they are also using our English Language Arts skills and our Math skills to complete various activities about dinosaurs. This is a hands-on STEM day that students will never forget.

In this project I have included our safari hats and vests.

This helps students get into character and students will have a piece of Dino day to take home with them. Students will use kinetic sand to dig up the dinosaur fossils.

Students will also get to build their own dinosaur using LEGO bricks. Students will use math skills to determine when the dinosaur was alive. We will read dinosaur books and learn about the main ideas of the stories.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
