I service forty-three students within a school in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. While all of my students from prekindergarten to fifth grade have a speech and language impairment, they have a vast range of needs.
Language is the medium of the schools and children who have a speech and language disorder have more difficultly accessing the curriculum than their peers.
This year, I was working both remotely and in person. I have had years to build up my supplies for in-person teaching but am slowly building my remote materials to keep children engaged.
My Project
For most of my older students, remote sessions are easy to sit through and learn. For most of my younger students, they need really engaging and interactive materials to stay focused for a thirty minute session with a screen. This gift card will allow me to purchase more interactive materials to keep my youngest students ahead while in the middle of a pandemic. I have already purchased games such as Pop the Pig or Yeti in my Noodles to reinforce as they play. I would like more digital options for my most challenging students, as well as rigorous digital materials for my older more determined students. As these products never go bad, this is the gift that continues to give.
