Digital Logic: Help Us Model Real-World Systems

Help me give my students two Chromebooks to visualize complex mathematical relationships and master high-level systems of equations through interactive modeling.

My Project

My students are a brilliant group of budding mathematicians who don't just want to find an answer; they want to know the 'why' behind it. They are currently tackling MYP mathematics, where we treat algebra as a language to describe the world. I love watching their faces light up when they realize that a system of equations isn't just a textbook problem, but a way to balance competing constraints in real life. They are resilient, curious, and ready to be pushed toward higher levels of conceptual thinking, but they lack the tools to move from paper sketches to precise, dynamic models.

To master high-level math work, my students need to visualize how variables interact in real-time.

These two Chromebooks will serve as Inquiry Stations in our classroom, specifically for modeling functions and systems.

By integrating these Chromebooks into our daily routine, my students will finally be able to visualize change in real-time by using software like Desmos to observe how adjusting a single constraint, such as a slope or intercept, instantly transforms the story told by a graph. These devices will empower them to justify their solutions with a higher degree of rigor, moving beyond basic coordinate-finding to prove their logic through digital evidence and multiple mathematical representations. Ultimately, this technology bridges the gap for my high-level learners, providing the processing power necessary to investigate complex real-world data sets that are far too intricate to solve by hand.

By funding these two Chromebooks, you are giving my students the power to transition from procedural math to true mathematical inquiry, allowing them to see the logic and beauty in the systems that govern our world.
