This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in a diverse community of children with a high population of English Language Learners and students with special needs. Each year, I support between 25-30 students with specific learning disabilities including dyslexia at our school. My kiddos range from 2nd to 5th grade on my caseload with the need for intensive support in the area of reading intervention.

Like many others, my students and I are greatly affected by the school closure.

As their teacher, I am finding new and creative ways to teach and learn from home. I have limited resources myself to fully present my students' lessons and presentations in such a way that they are dynamic and technologically current, but I am trying my best to provide them with the best quality online education I can possibly offer.

My Project

Teaching from home with limited resources makes a teacher looking for ways to be more resourceful when presenting lessons to their students. As I rebuild my classroom into my home to accommodate online learning, these are tools and materials that have been greatly needed but not accessible to me.

These materials will allow me to communicate, educate, and facilitate online learning at home.

The laptop stand will help during our Zoom lessons and in creating digital assignments on our learning platforms. The Apple Pencil will allow me to use it in conjunction with my iPad as a whiteboard for our online learning activities such as blending and dictation lessons. The wireless mouse will let me freely control my PowerPoint presentations on Zoom, and the collection of Elephant and Piggie books will allow me to conduct read aloud to engage my students. Having these essential tools to educate my students at home will be a dream come true.
