Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have been working at my present school for the last 10 years. I have had the opportunity to work with all types of students with different social and economic backgrounds. Majority of the my student population in this neighborhood, derives from low income families. Most of these students have parents that have two jobs just to make ends meet, so they are not there to provide that extra support needed. I would like to use the devise to work out the rigorous math problems that they will encounter, making it easier for them to follow. To add to their situation, the presence of this pandemic has added additional burden that has affected student education. The fact that we are not in the classroom, makes it harder to work out these step by step math problems.
My Project
The iPad will help my students see how I work out the math problems with step by step procedures. If they can visually see my strategies, they can use it to help them learn better. This device is an important tool my students need because it works like a whiteboard and can be integrated to any computer. Based on my data, my students require and will benefit from this type of visual aid. The success of my students will depend on how much they understand math concepts in fifth grade.
