I teach in a free public charter school located in North Lake county Florida. Our school is based in a rural community with over 80% free and reduced lunches. Our school is special because it provides a strong sense of community where teachers and administrators know all of the children and families. We see most parents several times a week for drop-off and pick-up. Many of the children have been in classes together since kindergarten creating strong bonds among our students. Our school is like a closely knit family. Many of my students feel as if my classroom is a safe haven for them to learn and engage their curious minds.
Enthusiastic, determined, and caring: my students come to class each and everyday ready to learn and explore new things.
They are wonderfully fearless in their commitment to engage in new activities to extend their learning.
My Project
These iPads will allow my students to take stewardship of their learning. Our class will have more flexibility to engage in meaningful activities like virtual field trips that would otherwise be unavailable to them. They will be able to explore their interests while learning new science and social studies skills. They will also be able to use these iPads to create a solid foundation in their reading and math skills.
My students enjoy a sense of accomplishment when we engage in project based learning.
This technology will allow us to explore multiple ways to present the skills we master in class and teach them valuable skills that they will be able to use for their future.
