My Students

Do you remember wanting to take pictures of everything when you were a child but your parents would not let you use the camera in fear that you would break it? All you wanted to do was to capture something special! I would like to give my first graders the opportunity to take their own pictures!

My class is full of 20 eager first graders.

They come from a variety of backgrounds and they each contribute something special to our classroom to make it a great place to learn. Some students have had a wealth of experiences but many have not and I hope to help them all explore all of the wonders of their world!

My Project

Having digital cameras for student use will truly enhance learning. I plan to create activities around the pictures the children will take! Some ideas I have right now are: *make and ABC's of Our School book where the students take pictures of things in our school that start with each letter of the alphabet. *Go outside and work cooperatively to make shadows with their bodies to show letters, shapes, numbers, etc. while a classmate takes pictures of the shadows. *Take pictures of each other and then conduct interviews and make a book telling about each child in the class. *Let students take pictures of whatever they would like and then use it to write a descriptive paragraph. ***and a million other ideas that will come to me once I actually have the camera. I am sure the children will come up with awesome ideas as well!

I can wish for all of the materials in the world to support my students' education, but with a very tight school budget, I have to rely on the generosity of others to help bring my ideas to life.

Children need opportunities to use technology and this is a great way to allow technology to enhance instruction. I have one year to provide my students with the best possible experiences I can; I know this would be an incredible opportunity for my students and the possibilities are endless!!
