The students that I work with are not only needy, but they often come from underserved communities, such as can be found in the Bronx. I work in a special acts district so every student has an IEP to help them in their educational adventures. My students have much to overcome in order to be successful members of our society, but they try hard to make this their reality. They count on the support of our school's staff and the commitment of staff to be dependable for them in order to make this four year journey.
My Project
With all of the adjustments we have made this year in schools, one that is overlooked is that it is increasingly difficult to post student work as they typically preside in a digital land. In a continued effort to change and adapt my practices, I have created this project to display these non-physical works. I expect that such a device will encourage student motivation and engagement as they seek to earn space on the display screen.
We have two TVs from our first project, help us add to this unique space!
We have happily used the new TVs to display our weekly vocabulary words along with their synonyms and antonyms. We regularly stream relaxing YouTube videos on the other screen, which our special needs students really enjoy. We are able to create a sense of comfort for our students that have struggled regularly with anxiety in school.
We want to add to what has already become a very affirming and comfortable room for our students to achieve! I am hoping to use the new TVs to help me expand the amount of positive reinforcement we can feature. We are hoping to use one of the TVs to display grammatical concepts that we are covering in the class, and we want to have a second screen that can be used to exclusively feature student work. Help us celebrate our students' academic and creative accomplishments!
