Differentiation at Its' BEST!

Help me give my students the differentiation time and attention they so desperately need! Between stools and organizational systems--my classroom will be far more functional.

My Students

My students come from all over the neighborhoods of the city of Pittsburgh--from every background and ability level imaginable.

Even though they are in school and study similar things, their interests in the world around them are vast.

They need a wider variety of books to choose from, so that all their interests are piqued.

They are super energetic and need as many different opportunities to fill up all that energy! We spend 15 minutes a day on free reading. I need to provide them with as many choices as possible so they are engaged during the entire time!

My Project

My students are as diverse as they come. I have some 8th graders who read at a 2nd or 3rd grade level, who need one-on-one or small group time with me to work on their fluency and comprehension. I have other students in the same room who have scored nearly perfect on the SAT as an 8th grader. Having stools that can easily be moved around the room will better allow me to differentiate each day based on those students that need specialized instruction with me/their peers.

Additionally, because I am trying to offer a classroom library that spans all of these reading abilities, I need some extra shelving to be able to organize my ever-growing library.

The hanging file folders will allow my students to have instant access to their glows and grows writing portfolios, so that each class we can work to manage the increased number of papers as the year goes on.
