Every year that I am in education, I learn more things about my students and their lives. I have a variety of learners and most live in poverty. 100% of our students received free breakfast and lunch.
The students that I work with come to school to be loved.
Many of their main goals are not to come to school to learn. They want to come to school to be in a safe environment where a routine is in place. My students know that when they come to school in my classroom, they will be safe and loved. It is very heart warming to see the excitement on their faces when I provide opportunities for them to love school even more. However, as you can imagine, it gets pretty expensive to continue to provide new items each year for our classroom. I'm looking for others to help fund making my classroom as inviting as possible. Can you help me reach my goal?
My Project
Well, just like most teachers and families, I was not expecting that our school would be closed for the remainder of the year, but it was. I went on Spring Break this year fully expecting to return to the classroom after an extended break. Therefore, I did not bring a lot of materials home with me. Unfortunately, teachers cannot access the building at this time - not to get personal belongings or curriculum.
I am using the internet to look for free reading passages, science articles as well as basic language arts curriculum.
It would be amazing to have a resource in my hands that I can send to students. Luckily our district is sending out work for our 5th graders to complete in the mail. However, some of my students are unable to do the work on their grade level. I need some options for differentiated work. When I have a differentiated amount of work for my students to complete it helps them grow.
Can you help me provide my students with the differentiated work that they need to succeed? Any amount will help!
