Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a resource specialist teacher, my role is to work with students with educational disabilities. I provide support for students with moderate learning difficulties. Based on their individual needs, my work is to provide direct and specialized instruction for them. I work in small group settings with the students and/or I provide a direct support in their general education classrooms. In addition, I am responsible for assessing and recording the students’ progress based on their Individual Educational Plan (IEP). Our school is Title I and all of our students qualify for free breakfast and lunch. Many of our students do not have access to technology at home. Students at our school come from diverse backgrounds.
My Project
These materials will provide my students the opportunity to interact with different type of materials based on their learning level and interest. Many of my students need different kind of activities in order to grasp and understand concepts, such as, blending, rhyming, and reading comprehension. These materials will give me the opportunity to design daily lessons and activities in order to target the skills my students struggle. The materials will be used in my classroom during small group settings, in order to provide the appropriate support to ensure the students’ success.
