This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am so lucky to teach an amazing group of first graders.
They are a very talented, funny, and energetic bunch of 5 and 6-year-olds.
They make my job so enjoyable!
I teach in a suburb of Detroit. We have approximately 53% of our entire student body who qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. Our school is a "Leader in Me" school, which helps to develop students who are empowered to be leaders. In my classroom, I work to build an environment that encourages students to love and support each other. We build on each other's strengths to develop confidence in each other.
My Project
Interactive Hot Dot Books would be a cool addition to our class! My students will be able to take ownership of their learning and build confidence through immediate feedback. The fun pens provide instantaneous visual and audio feedback such as motivational phrases for correct answers and gentle redirection for incorrect responses.
C'mon who doesn't love having their own book to hold!
My students love reading biographies and non-fiction texts. Having multiple copies of new books for our classroom library would be a game-changer. My students love to partner read and sometimes it's hard to find multiple copies. These would be a great asset to our classroom library!
