My Project

Help me give nearly 100 high school students the opportunity to unplug from screens and return to a simple, hands-on learning tool: the physical dictionary. These dictionaries will be used regularly during vocabulary practice to help students explore new words, examine definitions, identify parts of speech, study word origins, and understand how words are used in context.

Having a physical dictionary available in the classroom will encourage students to slow down and engage more intentionally with vocabulary instead of immediately turning to a digital search.

Students will develop greater independence and confidence when encountering unfamiliar words while strengthening their overall vocabulary and reading comprehension skills. Most importantly, these dictionaries will become a lasting classroom resource that can support students throughout the school year as they continue to build the language skills they need for success in high school and beyond.
