My Students

Singing, dancing, jumping, laughing, and learning are a few verbs that describe the welcoming atmosphere you will see daily in our classroom and virtually. Our ParentAware, four-star rated pre-kindergarten classroom has been running for 16 years and is ready for updated materials and furnishings.

The amazing children in our classroom deserve clean, high-quality educational materials that are visually appealing and safe to use daily.

Eighty-three percent of the students at my building qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. One of the honors I have, as the lead teacher, is that I get to collaborate with the families of our students. I get to help ensure their child’s first experience in school is a positive one! Many of my students are English language learners. I work to incorporate their home languages into our environment and routines. Our young students have the opportunity to learn through play and guided discoveries both inside and outside. From day one, all of our students learn mindful strategies for understanding their emotions, handling disappointments and disagreements. We do this by using games, solution kit cards, a breathing ball, a chime, role-playing, and lots of practice, of course.

My Project

Take me out to the ball game! Keep masks on and no crowds. Buy me some sanitizer and gloves. Wait a minute...that’s not how the song goes! Our 40 students deserve to learn the beauty of throwing,catching, using the hand-eye coordination that is developed as used in t-ball/baseball. Unfortunately, the odds of us going back to the classroom this school year are slim. The brand new t-ball mitts and balls would supply all 40 children with their very own gear. This project supports our Creative Curriculum Unit of Study and will give our students the opportunity to get outside and play a ball game with a family member while learning from home!
