Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are active and boisterous, but excited to be back in the classroom. We have been fostering community and relationships in our classroom every day.
My students are economically disadvantaged students who attend an urban Title I school in California.
My classroom is comprised of a fairly even balance of boys and girls who are energetic and eager to be back in person with their peers. Some of my students are English language learners who are learning the nuances of the English language. Almost half of my students are special needs or struggling in academics due to the lost learning time. All of my students are eager to socialize with each other. Due to Covid-19, parents have had limited access to the library, park, or stores due to work schedules or health reasons. Internet and technology are not always available or reliable in their homes. Regardless of their current situation or needs, they have a great desire to be back in school and part of our classroom community!
My Project
My students need to have periodic progress monitoring as required by our District. Their results are recorded on an iPad each time.
Some of the tests that are administered are recorded by tapping on the iPad screen.
Sometimes their answers are not accurately recorded because my fingers are too cold or not making the best contact. The iPad that I currently am using to record their answers is fairly old.
A new Apple 10.2 inch iPad and Apple pencil stylus would help make recording their answers more accurate and efficient.
