My Project
Servicing students in Pre-K to 2 comes with many challenges. From learning how to hold a pencil to adding numbers to one-thousand, the school-day can feel pretty overwhelming for students. Help my students develop fine-motor, problem-solving, and SEL skills through play with classic board games.
Everyday, I have students coming into my room in crisis mode.
Typically, calling for more adult support would solve the problem, but for students in primary grades, the more adults involved makes the situation worse. Students need an outlet to help shift their mindset from crisis to calm. Playing classic board games will act as a distraction and help students in crisis, shift their minds from crisis to calm. Furthermore, students will build fine motor skills while manipulating game pieces and build problem-solving skills while strategizing multiple ways to win a game; which are foundational skills they need to succeed in mathematics.
