Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are four-year-olds with and without varying special needs. Students are identified through the Child Find process and are given the opportunity to access the preschool setting to provide a foundation for the rest of their learning careers.
I provide an individualized, developmentally appropriate, multi-modal approach to learning with an emphasis on communication, emergent academic skills, and development of the whole child through meaningful play.
Students benefit from having access to a variety of therapists (OT, PT, SLP, and Social Worker), as well as a special education teacher.
My Project
This project allows my preschoolers the opportunity to broaden enrich their natural curiosity and love of learning through intriguing open-ended art projects with clay and other natural materials and loose parts.
We will be creating a classroom atelier, or art studio, for students to access daily.
Students will be supported as they use the high-quality materials to explore, describe, create and recreate. In our atelier the possibilities are endless.
“Creativity seems to emerge from multiple experiences, coupled with a well-supported development of personal resources, including a sense of freedom to venture beyond the known.” Loris Malaguzzi, The Hundred Languages of Children
