Developing Investigative Readers for Successful Futures!
Help me give my students tools to organize their writing, thoughts about their reading, and work to take home! With these folders and notebooks, students will be able to write creatively, express their thinking, and stay organized.
Do you remember that first book that made you fall in love with reading? The story that allowed you to escape into another world for a moment, the biography that gave you new goals and dreams, or the recount of information so riveting that you just could not wait to learn more? My students are thoughtful, imaginative readers and learners, and are excited to read books of all genres inside and outside of our classroom walls.
Students at my school come from diverse backgrounds and cultures and have a wide variety of reading levels, interests, and educational needs.
My ELA classroom will serve as an essential resource for children who need access to different genres and styles of writing to help them grow as students and young citizens of our global community.
My Project
Preparing to teach 75 sixth-graders after a year of distance learning is a daunting task, but one that I am so excited about! In my classroom, students get to explore various genres of books and literature, facilitating love and appreciation for reading and writing. It is my hope that no matter where we learn this year, my students are set up for success with all of the materials that they need—at the top of that list is a reader's notebook and folder that will be theirs to own in their book boxes.
Each day, students will use these notebooks and folders to take notes, record observations, share their thinking, and collect important evidence for learning and inferencing.
It is my hope, that as we move towards attending in-person school full-time, that students reconnect with the joy of a good book and putting pencil to paper to create art with their words.
