My Project

I am requesting literacy-related materials that will provide opportunities to reinforce phonics skills. Practice makes perfect when learning how to read. Reading is not a natural process in the brain. We must help students hardwire their brains by providing quality, science-based, fun reading instruction. Literacy is a social justice issue; our students deserve a quality education and support to become fully literate members of society.

The goal is to encourage students and build their love of learning by providing hands-on and engaging literacy materials during our literacy block.

Next year, our school will fully implement UFLI Foundations for small-group phonics instruction, focusing on the lower strands of Word Recognition on Scarborough's Reading Rope. These Developing Decoders texts are one hundred percent aligned with the UFLI scope and sequence and will be the perfect addition for students to practice becoming strong readers.
